Just because it is INWED- I make 2 posts to honour the extra effort women put in to succeed in male-dominated fields and professions. Engineering remains a super cool profession.
On International Day for Women in Engineering,
I have 3 requests
- Society: Make STEM fun and attractive in how it is taught and the value placed on the skills in the market.
- Organisations and Team Leaders: When female engineers join your org or team, Make an effort to understand the woman in front of you, the biases you have and the language used in your team. Mind the microinequities that discourage women while in the early career phase. Make the technical career route visible and worthwhile. It should not feel like a prison or less glamorous. Most times, the first manager sets the root for a blossoming career experience or the opposite.
- Young Lady Engineer: You have got the degree, you are brilliant. There is nothing to prove just experiences to gain, mindsets to shift, equal pay to earn and impact to be made. Go after this but don’t go alone. You need allies, coaches, peers, a hype team and a system to enjoy the life of an engineer.
And Alas, sometimes being an engineer is just the beginning, you realise you are a project manager, a lawyer, A CEO, A teacher, an explorer, an economist, a lover of art, fashion and flowers, a capable learner and worthy human. Whatever you discover you are or can be, just know that You will be fine!

I tried to find my 1st TBOSIET training photo but I’ll save that for another day.
I shared photos from the past, present, and future instead!
